BIG Funny Whoppers and other stories!

This is Nolan's self-haircut. Now you know that most kids eventually will get around to cutting their own hair, usually at the most inopportune time, like right before a professional photo shoot.

The funny thing about this is the hilarious whopper of a story that he told me and his dad about it. He got out of the shower and came to me with his hair all spiked up and said "Mom, you know this morning when I was laying down? Well I had a string on my shirt that was really annoying and so I got the scissors to cut it off." At this point I thought he was going to tell me he had cut a hole in the shirt. But he continued "and anyway when I went to put the scissors away, I stumbled and accidently cut my hair in the front and in the back." I was laughing at this point so hard because it was so not something that could really happen and he was pleading with me that it was true and I laughed even more, pointing out to him that if he had stumbled with a pair of scissors and cut his hair, he would most likely have cut his neck or poked out his eyes. He insisted that it was true, all the while I am insisting that it was the funniest lie he could have possibly told me, especially as there was a mess of hair on the sink and in the bathroom floor. When I went to bed that night I shared this hilarious story with Jan and he said interesting as Nolan had told him that he had tried to cut a piece in the back and had slipped and accidently cut it in the front. Now I know that I should be concerned about the lies, but given the nature of his pathetic whopper of how it happened all I could do was laugh and tell him he should get a better story if he is going to try to trick his Mom. She has been there and done that with the big brothers and won't believe just any old story!

This is Nolan after the repair. He is a little sunburned from playing in the aforementioned snow all day with his friends, Tony and Turner. They had a good time building a snow fort. It was a blessed "Snow Day".

March 24, 2010 Snowstorm

This is what Sissy looked like after she found out that this is what she had in her backyard to do her business in! She does not like the snow, especially when it is 15 inches deep!

Backyard bushes suffering from snow overload! It is sure pretty though and so quiet when I left at 6:30 a.m. for work. I was the first person in our cul-de-sac to drive out this morning!

Our front yard trees bowing down. Can't complain about the mud, or scraping or anything when we get good moisture like this. You can see my spot that I left in the driveway while Jan and Nolan still lay sleeping in a nice warm bed.

This post is about Milly and Levi. They are our grandkids and we are sure glad they are living here in Aurora only 3 minutes from our house. We sure get to see them alot more than when they were in Georgia. This is their one year old picture. Pretty cute huh?

When they come over they love the toys. They dump the whole basket out and find what ever suits their fancy. Levi especially likes things that make noise. Milly like to bring toys to you and for you to show her how they work and then she takes it and does it herself. Levi has been pretty proud of himself lately as he can get into the little rocking chair all by himself. Milly likes to ride her car except only backwards.

This is Milly at her birthday party. We had it a little late so Aaron could watch on his skype computer. We had to strip them after the cake and ice cream. Does she look like she cares?

They love Uncle Stump (Nolan). You should see Milly's face light up when Nolan gets home from school and walks into the house. He is an expert at getting them to laugh.

Opening presents at the 1st birthday party. I think they might be spoiled by all the stuff they have. Susanna says I can't buy them any more toys or her mom's house will bust.

The cake and ice cream. Levi ate all his ice cream at once and then cried when his mouth was full of it because it was so cold. It was funny, but I guess one should not laugh at little kids having a hard time.

This post is about our trip to Utah to drop Stuart off at the MTC (missionary training center) for the beginning of his mission. We had a good time and took some extra time for the family. We didn't want to rush, but to just enjoy our last week with Stuart. We went up to Salt Lake to Temple Square. We realized that Nolan had never been there and felt it would be a good experience for the whole family. So Monday we took the day and went up. This is a view of the temple from the North Visitor's Center window. Pretty nice, huh?

While we were there we got to see Camille, my sister's oldest daughter and a student at BYU. We went for ice cream at the Malt Shoppe. They have pretty good stuff there and had fun times as you can see.

As you go into the North Visitor's center, you go up this huge ramp to the second floor, where this statue is displayed. As we climbed the ramp and you could begin to see this display, Nolan said, "WOW", this is pretty awesome, or somesuch words indicating he was very impressed. This photo shows two brothers who love each other very much, standing by their older brother who also loved them so much. Pretty cool!

While we were there we got to have Sunday supper at Sean and Krysten's house. All of the Aurora kids and friends were there and we had a super time visiting with them. They are good kids and I'm glad to be their friend even if I am alot older than they are.

This is Stuart and Nolan getting ready for church in the hotel on Sunday morning. Nolan has a new tie tie and was trying really hard to learn to tie it. He wanted on that was pink, because his brother Stuart has one that is pink and you know that has to be cool.

Here is Stuart at the entrance to the MTC. He was so excited to go and serve and we only cried a little bit as we left. We are happy for him and proud of him to fulfill one of the goals he has had for himself since he was a little boy. God Bless you Stuart!

Owen's promotion to E4!

Owen's Sargent putting on his new rank patch. We are proud of him, she said "No one deserved it more". The mustache comes with being in the army I think. His promotion happened last week sometime. He is posted in Mozul, Iraq. He is working hard and loving his life right now.
